I worked at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

Pros

Longevity at job is a plus. The technical minded will enjoy a satisfying career with the added benefit of liberal leave policy and very good health insurance.

Cons

There is a tendency towards being boxed in professionally unless you are careful. Excessive travel could possibly be involved normally.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accommodating individuals with special family needs leads to better job satisfaction as long as the mission is not affected and safety is observed.

I have been working at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

    Pros

Working at NGA provides good benefits and job security. If you're coming straight out of college, NGA provides many opportunities to experiment with different job roles.

    Cons

I have never been in an environment where so many senior-level individuals are so disenchanted by the organization's ability to effect change. Many people come to work at NGA because they believe in the organization's mission but navigating the bureaucracy can be very challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise management to be mindful that they are role models whose actions set a tone for the workforce. Leadership is not just a buzzword - if you don't take it seriously, it makes it harder not only for your direct employees but for everyone.

    * Availbility to move around within the agency

    Cons

    * Must get along with many type of personalities, which at times is not easy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speed up the hiring process, taking 5 months is way too long for someone to wait for a job offer.
