I have been working at National Government Services

Pros

A division of Wellpoint (Anthem Blue Cross). Pretty good benefit package. Salary is competitive.

Cons

Ineffective management. Strategic decisions are not well thought out. No regard for people beyond the bottom line. Unable to properly manage change and uncertainty. National company with no understanding of front line operations. Government contractor.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't change things strictly for change sake. Doing the same thing wrong over and over again is insanity.

I have been working at National Government Services

    Pros

Decent benefits under the WellPoint umbrella. Competitive pay. Work at home options. Experienced and knowledgeable staff in Medicare contracting. Strong IT department.

    Cons

Company is struggling to transition from Title 18 to JMAC environment. Organization has way too much overhead to compete with dirt cheap bids from new competitors who hide a good deal of their costs in their private side business. Over half dozen layoffs in past year. No raises, cuts in health benefits, reduced bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just like you did with shutting down two of your largest offices, be sure to keep giving people advance notice of pending layoffs/changes. Be sure to reward the people who stick with you through this transition. .
