NHC is a great place to start in accounting, but not a good option long term

Pros

NHC has a very friendly, family oriented environment. They are good about letting people off work when they need to be. The people there are polite, conservative, and easy to get along with. The accounting department is a great place to work while attending MTSU because of the location. NHC is also an extremely stable job.

Cons

NHC settles for mediocrity. NHC prefers people without an educational drive past a 4 year degree. They actually discourage furthering your education or sitting for the CPA exam because they want you to be there for years and years. If you want to be in an office as a senior accountant for 20-30 years without any major changes or promotions, then NHC is the perfect employer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage partners to better themselves outside of work. Why not have the most knowledgeable employees you can find? Stop settling for mediocrity.

    Pros

Great company, with great employees and mentors. Working for a healthcare company that focuses on patients quality of life is great. The senior management encourage a patient centered environment which helps the people who got into healthcare to help people flourish. Sure it is a public traded company, but their motto is Care is our Business and believe me that is the focus.

    Cons

Building that culture in the buildings can be a challenge. Focusing on the 20 promises can help, but everyone needs to do it to make it work. The compensation is competitive as well as the benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on the assessment computers, there are too many systems to make it quick and easy to do the assessments and get back to delivering care to the patients.

    Pros

You get approximately 20 ETO a year which is nice to get away

    Cons

lack of communication. the pay scale sucks. the amount of money that the patients and residents pay to stay in this facility is ridiculously a lot and where does the money go? not to the employees that take care of those patients. pay the employees what they deserve. The administrators don't care about their employees, they are money hungry. nobody gets recognition for anything they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    PAY THE EMPLOYEES CORRECTLY!!
