    Pros

If you like the good guys to win, this is the place. They take the average person and give them the opprotunity to make succses happen.
NO B.S. You can focus on making mney by helping working families. You make a positive difference in people every day. Fantastic compony and mission. great pay and benefits and very diverse. all faiths, nationalities and creeds. working side by side. very cool!

    Cons

if you are not a self starter, or coachable, it is easy to get in your own way and not make it. But if you stop and examine the facts and want it to work for you. YOU ceran make it happen. Remember your manager started just like you. entry level, they made it. you can to. like any business or career. if it was easy they wouldnt pay you so well. i believe after extensive reasearch and over 3 promotions in my first year, This is the best place to make it happen. Do not pay attention to the one that fail. focus on the one that are suceeding, they will be very happy to show you how, if you let them. if you dont like a particualar manager and thier stlye. you can adjust. at the end of the day its the people you help that matter, and in the process you shall grow rich.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

this is not a microwave business, its a crock pot process. people need time to grow and build the right habits.

I worked at National Income Life

    Pros

It is a fun environment to work in. There is fast track management available based on performance not seniority. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

So many where to begin. Well they sell you a dream to come and interview with them, then once hired they sell you another dream. Then comes 3-5 weeks of no pay or income. They supposedly give you leads from qualified sources which is all just a misrepresentation just to get into a home. The leads are from unions who request free benefits or schools requesting child safe kits for children. You have to use a phone script and make appointments all indirect shadiness is what your pretty much saying just to get into the house. Once in the home you have to do a 25-35 minute presentation which is another script you have to learn. It starts with introducing the company then with the free benefits they give which is a medical discount card, child safety kits, and a family information guide which is like a last will. All these free benefits are just sales tactics to find out more info about the client to pitch the sale. Then it goes into a mandatory letter you will read to the client pretty much indirectly saying you are going to show them an insurance plan. Then you show them the plan using all the information you have gathered about them and hope for the best. Almost always you will have people tell you they want to think it over, cant afford it, want to do research on the company, or sometimes they just dont want it. For every response they give there is a rebuttal script for it to pretty much be pushy and try and sell them. In my personal opinion everything you do just to get the sale is fake, you mislead them by starting to talk about one thing then all the sudden your talking about life insurance. Its all shady and to me not in the best interest of most people.

The managers or leaders as they will say are fake. They act like your friend and play good cop bad cop with you all day long if you dont perform how they want you to you arent of value to them. They are very disrespectful and show no remorse. Your pretty much a dollar in their pocket. Management is set up as a pyramid structure, you have a team of agents and managers under you which the top manager makes money off all of them in the form of overrides and bonuses. This is the main reason you are treated how you are because your nothing but money in their pockets. They burn you out until you cant go any more then toss you to the side and watch you crumble as they bring in another 3-5 agents to go through the same thing you just did. Once in management you have to put more time in trying to build a team of agents who will work for you and earn you money so you no longer have to be in the field. You also waste more money as a manager putting ads up on craigslist trying to lure people in. There are some managers who really do care and will go to hell and back with there team but its only a couple in the entire agency so nothing really to brag about.

Knowing what I know now about the business they conduct there I would never recommend NILICO to a friend or relative. This is a job for a person with no responsibilities but themselves and has all the time in the world to just work and nothing else. They ask you for the hard and necessary now to enjoy the perks later so if you are an individual who can do that and not worry about whats tomorrow going to be like then this may be a job for you. If it isnt then continue searching.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to treat people with respect. Maybe actually care about the people you work with because after all they are the ones making you money. Also dont just care about the ones who make you the most money. Be honest with your agents about everything not just the good. Dont burn your agents til they cant work anymore. Take parenting classes.
