National Instruments Staff Software Engineer:   (Current Employee)

Pros

NI is a great place to work straight out of college. You'll immediately be given meaningful work and a chance to contribute. Your coworkers tend to be very bright and motivated people. There are plenty of activities to get involved in if you choose. The atmosphere is generally pretty laid back though it varies from group to group. The benefits are above average.

Cons

Project management isn't exactly something NI excels at. Projects are often poorly defined and organized which is generally balanced by the talent of the employees. Training is largely nonexistent. Lack of experienced hires means NI reinvents the wheel on a daily basis. Salaries are below average.

Advice to Senior Management

Stronger all-around project management will save the company money in the long run as will a fully supported test team.
