I have been working at National Instruments full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Very laid back atmosphere, at least in my department. Lots of opportunities to get involved socially with co-workers. Having a cafeteria and a gym is very convenient.

    Cons

As with most large corporations, slow to adopt to new methodologies and technologies. Since the company seems to target recent college graduates for new hires, there isn't as much influx of 'how other companies are doing things'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's great that the company does a lot of promoting from within, but we need a bit more of employees with outside experience as well.

NI is a great place to start your career, but not necessarily to grow it

I have been working at National Instruments full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Most NI employees are very intelligent and great to work with. The work/life balance has always been good for me.

    Cons

The pay starts off as average, and then depending on what department you're in, it doesn't keep up with the local Austin market. Also depending on the department, career growth opportunities are limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are one of the main stakeholders in the company along with customers, shareholders, and suppliers. Pay more attention to your employees' needs.
