Good company to start a career, but might have to move on later

    Pros

Entspannter Arbeitsplatz. Junges Team.

Relaxed workplace. Young team. Lots of fun when you start in the Applications Engineering department. German branch office hat a great location and is brand new. You learn a lot in your first year. No job cuts during the recession.

    Cons

Some - not all - middle managers only seem to have that job because they have been in the company long enough and have downright horrible management skills. German branch management seems to have lost touch with employees. Pay is ok in the beginning, but falls short after a few years if you do not go into sales. Training pretty much stops after two years. Kool-Aid drinking is mandatory.

    Advice to Management

Give people raises when they are promoted. Do more reviews. Give out praise if people do good work. Good job with the recession management.

Be careful, we are losing more people...

    Pros

Very relaxed work environment. Team building exercises and outings are a regular to help get to know people. For the last 15 years, up until this one, NI made the top 100 best places to work list. Each building has it's own kitchen and serves great food, so you don't have to leave to property to get breakfast or lunch.

    Cons

Ni is not known for their monetary compensation. The benefits are great, and affordable, but when it comes down to pay, they lose a lot of folks to higher (sometimes 40% and more) salaries.

    Advice to Management

NI has a dream. I believe they could achieve this much easier, if they would better compensate their people. Stop losing great, key, and talented people to other places over a monetary wall.
