National Semiconductor – “Time for Change”

Pros

Good overall compensation package, 401K, medical, park, work/life balance. Relatively stable place too work (less lately). Good central location (HQ) for easy commute.

Cons

Management lack of vision and relevant business or product experience. Very political. Volatile business plans. Unstable organizational structures. Lot of expensive mistakes from top management that cost billions of dollars in the last 14 years. Hopefully the new CEO will be able to change some of these and turn the company around. I wish him good luck!

Advice to Senior Management

Trim the management structure, there are way too many managers. Keep only the good ones. Ask employees who are the good managers. Bring in some fresh talent and develop the one you have.
