Admin staff: good if you like stability, bad if you're looking for career growth

(Current Employee)

Pros- good work/life balance, rarely need to do overtime work
- stable government-linked institution, so your job is secure even if you are a slightly below average performer
- friendly working environment in general

Cons- a lot of red tape leading to lots of frustration, especially since top level management seems to oblivious about sentiments on the ground
- slow career progression, can be boring
- rude professors can really bog you down

Advice to Senior ManagementLess paperwork, please. Try to go paperless. Do more to value admin and support staff.
