Good environment for research

Research Assistant (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsGood facilities
Freedom to work on one's own projects
International recognition
Knowledgeable supervisors
Chance to collaborate with external researchers
Generous pay (but it stays the same).

ConsHectic work schedule - no work-life balance. Expected to work at all times.
Too much emphasis on producing publications, simply for the sake of publications.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop putting so much emphasis on publications. This prevents researchers from pursuing the really important problems since they are also generally also very risky.
