I have been working at National University of Singapore full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Full-time research student, no obligation for teaching and can thus concentrate on research work. No associated bond. Among increases to 2500SGD after passing qualifying exam.

Cons

Not considered as employee and no bonus and other benefits. Funding for overseas conference is limited.

    people take more conservative approach. Need to be more encouraging to try new ideas,

    NUS gives you lots of freedom to do your own research. The staff and working environments are also among the best in the world.

    Cons

    Cooperation between researchers in different labs or departments are not very effective.
