I worked at National University of Singapore

Pros

Foods are cheap, lots of canteens in the campus.

Cons

Some assistant professors may push you very hard. Because getting tenure in NUS, especially in computing, is very difficult for the faculties in recent years. Some research fellows and phd students are pushed to work 12 hours per day for at least 6 days a week.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please supervise those "demanding" assistant professors to ensure that they show sufficient respect to their research fellows and students. It is their own problems if they cannot get tenure.

I have been working at National University of Singapore

    Pros

    Availability of high tech instruments
Good country location for those who like to travel around Asia and Australia

    Cons

Rigid culture in the work place and Singapore
Access to high tech instrument are limited to "who your manager is"
For those who work in R&D, expect severe delay (2 weeks) on chemical procurement as all chemicals must be imported from US or Europe.
Expect a majority of people would not share information for the purpose of common goal
Low work ethics and interpersonal values at management level. I have seen employees getting their termination notice BY E-MAIL ! or without prior review performance/discussion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider balancing work ethics and the "law and economics" value.
