I have been working at National Vision

Pros

Friendly staff and decent 90 day incentives.

Cons

Not enough work hours, they purposely split everyone's shift so they only get 10-15 hr.s per week, by doing that, the company does not have to provide benefits to its employers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more hours to workers so they can actually get enough to pay month's rent.

    I have been working at National Vision

    Pros

    great place to learn the ropes of the optical industry. Good benefits and discounts given to employees. Medical dental and vision to full time employees.

    Cons

    would like to see a more involved training program. No benefits for part time employees. appears to take some time for career advancement within.

    Would like to see a more involved training program for new hires. Classes or take home study materials would be helpful.

    this would be a great company to work for if they just chose a direction to go into

    benefits
    retirement plan
    national company with many locations

    Cons

    pressure to obtain sales
    no control over hiring/firing
    oldest computer systems ever
    put competing stores in same shopping centers
    stores are very understaffed
    mission statement is too long and convoluted

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    allow managers to run their stores with out all the red tape and bureaucracy
    field management has too much say over day to day operations of the store
    set into place a system of immediate recognition for positive sales and customer service
    reorganize the bonus/commission structure
    make career development and associate training a priority
