I worked at Nationwide full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

401 k match, benefits, community involvement, holiday pay 2.5 time

Cons

Not much of a chance to move up unless you're willing to move
Closures in producing offices to move to another city
Though agent pay is great, once you promote it's not as competitive

I have been working at Nationwide full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Broad spectrum of opportunities, ability to use variety of skills and apply background/experience/knowledge somewhere in the company - there's a potential fit for everyone

    Cons

Loyalty of mid- and upper-level leaders - misplaced loyalty where skills and capability does not necessarily exist result in skilled/capable individuals not able to progress or to be eligible for opportunities. Contributes to an already non-progressive atmosphere and prevents from moving forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not keep leaders and individual contributors in roles (or move to new roles when there is a job elimination) in favor of bringing in new talent. Encourage and embrace innovation.
