Nationwide Employee Review
Nationwide – “An established company which is making a difficult transition”
1 of 1 people found this helpfulPros
Nationwide offers a lot of opportunity for people who are enterprising and willing to expand their skills. Great benefits, salary seemed fair, and there was plenty of opportunity to pursue training and education.
Cons
There was a well established and entrenched management hierarchy which tended to limit both upward mobility and creativity. Because it was in the process of improving how it ran, political games were rampant because every manager was trying to jockey for lead position. I was there for 5 years and it seemed to constantly be in process improvement mode - which was fine with me but the employees with long tenures (10+ years) seemed to be very bitter about the changes being made.
Advice to Senior Management
I am not certain what advice I would give now. When I was there, I thought that they needed to cut some of the "dead wood" out of management, but I believe that there was a mass layoff after I left so that might have happened.
