I have been working at Navigant Consulting

Pros

This is a good place to work, especially for young people. Employees have solid backgrounds and are generally very sharp and motivated. The company provides training opportunities. Work-life balancce is more than reasonable, with reasonable hours (depending on the practice), and above-market paid time off. If you do good work, you can shape your career and project choices. Heavy emphasis on consistency in promotion/evaluation process.

Cons

The compensation is generally average. Among top-tier mgmt consulting, it is probably below average. The credo is often "we don't compete on salary." While it is true that there are other attractive benefits of the firm, salary and bonus is a concern.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve feedback mechanisms. Reviews are treated, as with other firms, as perfunctory. Consider alternative compensation strategies. Stop following market and start leading it.

I have been working at Navigant Consulting

    Pros

Navigant consulting has great people and great hours. as a summer intern I worked as much as I wanted to, given that I always wanted to work more. It really depends on what projects you're on, but navigant tries to put in a good effort to rotate you where you want to be.

    Cons

it is litigation consulting, you either like it or you don't. it's a very specific field, so be careful in what you're getting yourself into. they are very practical and believe they are a good place to work, but at the same time aren't full of themselves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

navigant consulting should have more intern programs that challenge the interns on a critical mind level. too many of their events and activities are not extremely uesful

    I worked at Navigant Consulting

    Pros

    Decent reputation in the marketplace
Able to make your own destiny within the firm because of the small size, thus leads to opportunities to improve or create processes.

    Cons

    Client size
Company was moving towards greater connection between offices and leveraging 'on the bench' resources from one office to another
Because of the small size of the firm there may be more politics to get around to get recognized of your efforts if your manager or sr. manager isn't your advocate. But the bright side is there aren't as many layers to go through as you can speak directly with partners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some managers do not follow firm policy with respect to work/life balance or freely give credit if you assist with bringing in new clients. Sr (executive) management should be more vigilant of managers and sr. managers that hurt morale at the entry level and mid-level because of the two points noted. Management should reinforce a meritocrous value system and demonstrate flexibility with work/life balance.
