I have been working at Navigant Consulting full-time for more than a year

Pros

Lot of personal freedom and trust from senior management, ability to run projects from day 1, get to work closely with clients, smart people

Cons

Different rules for different people; unclear direction moving forward; hours can be brutal at times; lack of cohesive unit/team

I worked at Navigant Consulting as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

The pay was good. The bosses allowed you a good amount of freedom. There was pressure, but it was not too bad and only during crunch periods.

    Cons

There is not a good deal of foresight. You never really know where you stand, if the job will continue, and what you will be doing next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Greater clarity. While it is in management's best interest to keep employees, they should give some indication (truthful) of whether the project will go on and what the plans for the future may be. It may seem that telling employees their job will end in two weeks may cause everyone to "jump ship", my experience was the opposite. The lack of truthful notice of the future, only caused the good employees to leave. Most people stayed around and would have either way.

I worked at Navigant Consulting as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Got to meet and talk to some very high up managing directors on a daily basis; experienced conference calls with high up executives; many intern events that allowed a casual environment for the interns with the employees.

    Cons

The internship is only eight weeks long
