    Pros

    Great people at lower levels

    Cons

Zero work life balance on some projects, very hard to transition off of them if they are profitable for the firm

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your top performers better, encourage more project rotation - that's why people go into consulting.

I worked at Navigant Consulting as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The pay was good. The bosses allowed you a good amount of freedom. There was pressure, but it was not too bad and only during crunch periods.

    Cons

There is not a good deal of foresight. You never really know where you stand, if the job will continue, and what you will be doing next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Greater clarity. While it is in management's best interest to keep employees, they should give some indication (truthful) of whether the project will go on and what the plans for the future may be. It may seem that telling employees their job will end in two weeks may cause everyone to "jump ship", my experience was the opposite. The lack of truthful notice of the future, only caused the good employees to leave. Most people stayed around and would have either way.
