    Pros

Friendly, hard working Midwest culture. Good pay and benefits. It's a 100 plus year old company that has go through many ups and downs. I hope the company can become stronger after its latest setback. There is a foundation of good products to build on.

    Cons

Going through some tough times now. New leadership needs to set a new course for the future.

    Advice to Management

Continue listening to customer and employers. Focus on the basics for now (e.g., quality) and create a plan for future investments, product improvements.

    Pros

Great suburban location. Potential for exciting opportunities. Most of the people with whom I work are friendly and supportive. Most importantly - I am satisfied with my contribution.

    Cons

Upper-level management appears to continue to be disconnected to the mid-level and lower professionals. It appears mid-level HR managers were promoted to their highest level of incompetency based solely upon preferential treatment. HR mid-level managers were charged with overseeing areas of which they have no knowledge or experience; however, asserting they "knew" what they were talking about. If you are not a part of the HR *pack*, then you are out of luck. IPD HR is given way too much latitude over HR issues they have no experience or knowledge - not in the best interest of the business or its employees. Some HR managers are *harrassing* and allow a high school attitude amongst lower ranking employees. Employees who are serious about their career have to either accept the high school mentality or leave.

    Advice to Management

The attitude that things should not change because that is the way things have always been should be a moto of the past. This is supposed to be a turn around year. The only way to turn around a business is to make significant changes inside to make a big impact on the bottom line. The biggest impact a business can make is its *footprint*, as well as the motivation and satisfaction of its employees. Recognize that by maintaining HR status quo that important and signficant key people are leaving.
