Pros

The generous employee discount on current inventory, beautiful working environment, and customers are very pleasant.

Cons

Work-life balance can be a challenge. A lot of weekends, nights, and of course holidays. But thats expected in retail.

Advice to Management

Try to strive to treat employees fairly and settle disputes that may arise in a timely manner. I often feel tension on the sales floor between associates and most of the time clients pick up on the hostility because associates argue in front of them. It doesn't look professional and it devalues the experience for the clients. Would you want to shop in a war zone? As a consumer, I rather just shop online if thats the case.

Horrible experience overall. Buyers and upper mangement were rude and snooty and took advantage of their assistants.

    Pros

The positive side to working for Neiman Marcus was the exposure to the fashion world. Salvage and sample sales are the best as you get designer name brands for very low prices.

    Cons

No work life balance. Very little recognition for extra effort. Atmosphere was extremely stuck up and there was very little room for growth and development. Buyers took long lunch breaks and upper management did not have any respect for lower level coordinators or assistant buyers.

    Advice to Management

Learn to respect the lower people doing majority of the work to keep the office together. Treat everyone with respect no matter what their title or position is. Teach the buyers how to manage their offices and hire people who will be team players.
