I have been working at Neiman Marcus full-time

Pros

If you're going to be standing on your feet for 9 hours a day, in a commissioned work environment you might as well make the most of your time. People who shop here have money. The ones who don't steer clear. With that said, you will be working more for your money as opposed to other commissioned based selling environments. Great benefits.

Cons

It's still retail. There are still those micromanagers, pointless performance reviews, (even when you are making your goals) working weekends, nights (my store was open until 7pm so I lucked out). Not much room to grow to management. No weekends off.

    Pros

Best retail schedule. No late hours working. 2 Sundays and 1 Saturday off a month (plus, I usually take an additional Saturday off). Paid sick leave and PTO. Generous discount.

    Cons

Much slower work environment than other department stores I have worked in. You have to really work to build your clientele.

I worked at Neiman Marcus full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you love fashion and helping clients find their own sense of style. This is the place for you. Great place to learn about designers and luxury items.

    Cons

Highly competitive enviroment. Inside commission sales can be a cut throat business. Standing 8 hours can be a drag. High budgets and returns come out of your check.
