I worked at Neiman Marcus full-time for less than a year

    Pros

When the store is doing 30-30 discount, then you get 50% off all items in the store, sales items included.

    Cons

Pathetic discount of 30%, lack of inventory, lack of customers, nasty customers, minimal return business and management that is mean and lies. Everything I was told at the interview was a lie: work hours, time off, Sundays, weekends, all of it. It's impossible to make the commission so you end of working long hours for a tiny paycheck. The management doesn't even know what you are told in training and have you do the exact opposite of what you are told. The other employees hate you the minute you walk in because you are their competition. They WILL steal your sales and make your life miserable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the same page with the training, treat your new employees with respect and help them to integrate into the department. Stop lying at the interview and you might keep people instead of losing them after one month. A better discount would be a smart idea as 30% is well below the average of 40%. Take a look at some of the managers and how many of their staff leave or dislike them, and get rid of them. Realize that people need a work/life balance and in the month I was there, I couldn't even find the time to cook a proper meal. There is no excuse for never giving an employee two back to back days off.
