Pros

Can feel confident the business is doing well, which is important during a recession. Very secure in your position as long as you do a good job.

Cons

If you are not vocal, I could see it being difficult for some to move up or be noticed because it is so large. I don't blame the company for this, there isn't much they can do, but I did notice some peers that did a good job, but were overlooked in my opinion. If you are not comfortable in a large office setting, a place like Nestle would not be for you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to offer help to those working to advance their careers, it was a big perk of working at Nestle.

Solid place to start - but you are REALLY starting in the trenches

Former Employee - Retail Sales Representative in Tampa, FL

    Pros

Great benefits package - medical, dental, vision..etc, 401k with match, pension, car, gas and drivers insurance, cell phone and internet reimbursement

Good training and solid support network from peers

    Highly autonomous

    Cons

The RSR role is just what it sounds - going to retail on a daily basis and fighting in the trenches for display space. It can be very frustrating to work with retail level management that don't want anything to do vendors and still meet sales goals and keep up with all of the in-store tasks that the RSR is rolled. There can also be a lot of admin work to be done at night.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be some established means of communication and collaboration between RSRs. There are many systematic problems that could be solved more effectively if there were better means of communication from one RSR to another. Maybe setting up an easily accessible online forum or place where topics/issues can be brought up and success stories can be shared.
