Former Employee - Production Operator in Cabazon, CA
Former Employee - Production Operator in Cabazon, CA

I worked at Nestlé Waters North America full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

It was decent pay for the area, benefits available to full time employees, and some good workers came through every now and then. The building was newer, so the facilities were clean.

Cons

High turnover rate, disrespectful management, and forced overtime where drivers are working 12 hour shifts up to 6 days a week. Operators and drivers basically are numbers to this company and are consistently talked down to. It is hard to move up unless you are willing to kiss behinds or can fool management by acting like you're working only when they're around so they think you're on top of things. The more you step up and do things for them, the more they want from you and it is not appreciated. Training is non-existent. "Casual" employees, aka temp workers, are treated like half a person. It is very much a boys club at this location. High competition for nothing in return. Lots of lip service from management with no follow through. There is a reason why such a giant global company such as Nestle is never on any best places to work list, everything this company does is to look good on paper. It's all about the bottom line. Corporate to the fullest. Don't be fooled.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train middle management some please. Respect your employees. Start trends in the workplace, don't just follow. Innovate.

I have been working at Nestlé Waters North America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

401K with company match plus once per year profit sharing. If you can keep your job long enough and add to your funds yourself your retirement will be well funded. Benefits and vacation time is average. Five day Monday through Friday work week. Even though RSR's have to work as many as 5 Saturdays per year many will take those for you. No Sunday work plus 10 holidays per year.

    Cons

No AC in the trucks. Micro managed. Incorrect routing and directions make it very difficult to be efficient and focus on any goals. Safety is touted as a high priority, yet one has to work at a fever pitch putting yourself and possibly others at risk so you can make up for the poor directions. Very physical job that includes moving by hand one 45 pound bottle or case at a time and the daily average is expected to be 250 bottles/cases. That is over 11,000 pounds twice as you move it from the truck to a dolly then to the desired location resulting in 22,000 pounds per day. Overtime is excessive and 2nd lunches are expected to be waived daily, yet you must not work over 12 hours per day while still finishing all the work given. There is no clear guidance once you get to the point of violating the hour limits if there is still work that needs to be done. Many work through breaks and lunches skewing the productivity requirements, and management turns a blind eye to it. Sick calls add work load to others. Goals are tough and no time is given to obtain them without cheating the system in some or many ways, and again management turns a blind eye. Downright abusive labor practices. There is always a carrot out there for you to go after, creating an uncomfortable job security feeling in the pit of your stomach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most RSR's have good intentions, so focus on those who stand out that don't. Play to the strengths. If a guy is a stellar seller give him the time to do so. Protect your front line employees from middle and front line management. The good old boys club at the front line will try to hide the management missteps.

I have been working at Nestlé Waters North America full-time

    Pros

Benefits are good, but the salary is not great unless you can hit your goals and get your commission.

    Cons

Totally unrealistic goals! The daily Micro Management is really a pain! Too much driving which means that the money they give you for the gas never last til the end of the month. There's no room for advancement. I would definitely not recommend this company to a friend, too stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating employees like children! You should go out there and do the job and hit those goals!
