Nestlé USA – “Great location, so-so CPG”

The best reasons to work for Nestle include the the company store, free coffee and candy while at work. Also, the company truly values networking and allows junior employees to reguarly have coffee, lunch etc. with senior management. This interaction is not only encouraged, but required--however, it makes the large divisions seem much more intimate and gives each person complete control over their career trajectory. Other good reasons to work at Nestle include the strong Beverage brand portfolio, the excellent reputation and the opportunity to work on international assignements. Perhaps the biggest plus of all is the company's location in Los Angeles.
Cons
The company is large and somewhat difficult to navigate--communication between the different divisions is poor and there is a huge difference in moral of the more profitable divisions versus the less profitable. Even though the junior associates are encouraged to network with senior management, some of this seems less an "encouragement" and very forced. Because the organization is incredibly flat, competition for new manager positions is fierce and there are often as many as 6 or 7 associates in every division that have gone as long as 5 years without a promotion (or a promotion in sight). Career advancement is slow for most.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be great if there was more communication as a company so that employees did not feel as if they were working for many separate companies within one building.
