    Pros

One of the reasons I joined NetApp was its reputation as a great place to work, and in many ways it lives up to that reputation. People are reasonable, for the most part, and truly want to help you be successful. Even during times of reduction in force, attempts are made to treat employees with respect and care. Leaders actually discuss the impact of their decisions on employees and try to behave ethically even when the decisions are tough ones.

    Cons

All this "niceness" can sometimes lead to too many cooks in the kitchen, too many people at the meeting, and too much elapsed time for decisions to be made. Processes are often overly complex and sometimes contradictory due to the tendency to give everyone a voice. Promotions can be difficult to come by in a relatively flat organization. Excellence can take a backseat to "all in the family."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't get too enamored with your own publicity. Nice is good, you've got that handled. But "nice" isn't always what is needed. Everyone doesn't always have to be involved in every decision.

    No opinion of CEO
