Netflix Employee Review
Netflix – “Well ran company, better call center”
4 of 7 people found this helpfulPros
Better pay than most call centers with a pretty good enviroment at the center itself. Most of the team leaders are very solid. The company itself is organized well, and its great to work at a company that works. Very merit based. Overall one of the better call centers in the country I would guess.
Cons
It is a call center and that is a huge downside due to the nature of the work. The constant measurement of progress, and high expectations can be stressful. Time off is very difficult to imposssible to get off unless you plan months a head. Currently there is no availble time off for the rest of the year. The team managers (my supervisors supervisors) seem to be less compentent than many of the team supervisors. No advancement outside of the call center, and the advancement within the call center is pretty competative. Also the "company values" of taking invoation from anywhere in the company is a little bit of BS. I and others have made recomendations that don't leave the call center to corprate. I have even been told by a team manager to not waste my time thinking of call drivers or to come up with ideas as "people with advanced degrees are already doing that."
Advice to Senior Management
Reevaulate the team manager positions. I believe most are a hold over from when the call center was ran less well a few years back. I would love some other outlets of employment provided to those within the call center. For example I worked in a retail store that posted ever company job, and encouraged the people within retail stores to apply for corprate positions. Also listen to th troops better. A lot of very sharp people (due to the high expectations) work for you and want Netflix to succeed; listen to them.

Netflix has been the worst company I've ever worked for.I am not so gracious as you, though. I tell anyone who will listen to me about the call center, about the horrible managers, about what they gave and took away...the ridiculous crap like what they did to you over the wedding. What a bunch of power-hungry, little minded and inept people!
Yes, Netflix...I pray for the day that someone comes along and knocks you right off of your pedestal. You don't get to stand tall when it's been on the shoulders of those you have abused.
Netflix is pathetic. To anyone reading this who is even thinking about working there....DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF, PLEASE!!!!!

I was told once, while having a medical issue at work, that I could go home. But I would be written up. And since I was late last winter (snow storm, and I got stuck on the 26) I would be let go. I left anyway. It's ridiculous. Not to mention planning your vacation time/pay so you can attend a wedding, and they take the vacation pay away and pay it at a bonus? Hello? That's higher taxes. And the killer of that part.. shift bid after. Yes, needless to say all the time I got approved off didn't line up with my brothers wedding. I had to beg and bribe people to take my shift as WFM wanted nothing to do with it.
I chose to be unemployed versus fighting for myself and my job there. And I can tell you.. the stress of being without a job for a bit was awful. But, it was a lot less than working for that company. HR was a joke, Supervisors were pretty useless, and Managers were known as "the scary people that fired everyone".
Lots of people find out I worked for NF and say "wow" or some great expression. And it's hard not to bad mouth them. I try my best to stick with "well.. it is an extremly high pressure call center that is not what they say they are".
Good luck!!
