I worked at Netsmart full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

PTO was done in way that was simple and straight forward which rewarded those who were not sick. Opportunity was certainly there. For a young individual, it will give them diversity that is needed at an okay salary. A few years into Netsmart, they will most likely be looking else were for an employer that treat them how they deserve to be respected and compensated.

Cons

There was a disconnect from upper management and there was not reasonable time for the amount of expectations. All resources across the entire company were stretched. It was not uncommon for 60 hour weeks. Stress levels were extremely high. Tension levels were high. Due to elevated stress levels, often employees would break or spaz out towards anyone around them. Management often promised but never delivered a better work environment. Management often lied to their customers, over promise and under deliver. Netsmart could sell ice to an eskamo, which would distract Netsmart from their core products. Staff has admitted lying to customers on numerous occasions.

Genstar Capital is simply making it look like a good company before they sell it off to the next venture capital.

Matching for 401k was 10% of what was contributed (Eg, $100 invested + $10 company match = inadequate). Flex Spending Account (FSA) not a Health Savings Account (HSA).

It is extremely hard to believe that Netsmart was award "Best Place to Work", the survey was stacked.

    Pros

Over all, people who you work with are nice. There is an environment of helpfulness. Decent benefits.

    Cons

The location is terrible and the pay not up to the market. Very ugly work space. Management think they are brighter than they really are. In-fighting between departments is typical. CEO is a ghost and speaks to no one. Strange.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shouting is not a solution. Anger management courses should be required for some upper management...and you know who you are.

CMHC: great. Netsmart, not so much.

I have been working at Netsmart

    Pros

The potential for helping people help people through quality software.

Other than that, nothing. CMHC Systems was a great, family-friendly, community-involved company. Netsmart destroyed that. Really, there is no good reason to work here.

    Cons

Rude, coarse management. Would you like to be told "If you don't like it (the technology), don't let the door hit you in the ass!" by a senior manager? It may be a New York attitude, but Dublin ain't New York.
Dublin management that looks out for themselves instead of their reports. It's apparent a manager was hoarding better work to his own advantage.
There's an erroneous belief that employees should be looking at a career with Netsmart. A career with a single company is a concept of the past.
    Non-mainstream technology (Cache).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dublin management is a lot of the reason that folks left.

Stop the threatening people and accept the fact that Cache is not a desirable technology. Employees MUST look out for their career's, not just the current job. Stop dangling carrots of technology opportunities.
