Pros

The company provides many opportunities for staff to further their education - including tuition reimbursement, web-based training, and classroom training. Management maintains an open-door policy and is always ready to schedule time with an employee to hear their thoughts.

Advancement opportunities were ample until the economic downturn, at which time very few open positions began to be available.

Cons

Few opportunities for advancement after economic downturn.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to be supportive of your staff and provide the education opportunities and positive atmosphere that made Network Solutions such an enjoyable environment.

A lot of movement but the engine is broken

    Pros

A lot of smart people, good opportunities to solve problems, good scale in terms of customers to apply problem-solving.

    Cons

The engineering function is broken. Very little gets done. All the focus seems to be on rearranging priorities around a broken development engine - an engineering team that is demotivated, poorly-led (if you can call it leadership) and out of touch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace senior-mgmt leadership within engineering, marketing.

Engineering leadership is completely out of touch with how fast tech companies need to operate. Things are probably more efficient at Exxon Mobil. And instead of motivating teams to meet high expectations, leadership spends more time coming up with elaborate and sometimes ridiculously laughable excuses for why things cant get done. Rotten from the head down...

Marketing org is really about maintaining schedules and lists instead of real marketing. Marketing mgrs are clerical staff who suck at copy-writing, merchandising, or really anything creative. Simple changes to pages takes months and leadership seems to tolerate it.

    I worked at Network Solutions

    Pros

The culture at Network Solutions Drums facility is friendly and nurturing of its employees. You will find that you are working with some of the best people in an atmosphere almost free of the usual office politics and backbiting.

    Cons

In spite of professing a dedication to one call resolution--customers are often given evasive babble rather than concrete satisfaction. There is too much focus on upsell not enough focus on retention of customers by meeting their needs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take a good look at the products that are problematic for customers and fix the issues. Also, pricing for some products is way too high and is driving customers to competition.
