    Pros

Innovative work environment, beautiful campus, nice co-workers. It is a very good job to gain experience if you are interested in gaining a MLS.

    Cons

Poor management and disorganized. Very hard to get people - not many opportunities to move up with the college.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More reliability and organization.

I have been working at New College of Florida full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pretty campus, gorgeous location - right on the Bay.
Small college atmosphere allows faculty and staff to get to know students well.
Many of the students are exceptional and great to work with.
Some great people in this organization.

    Cons

Entire university seems disorganized, unfocused, and plummeting downward.
There is a serious clash between the "old guard" and anyone trying to bring in new ideas; therefore, the old guard seems to be constantly trying to restructure departments, find a new/old vision for the school, and, at times, it seems they are just trying to survive.
Far too many students, faculty, and staff seem very bitter and negative...and in the case of faculty and staff, it is clear many have stayed there to long. This causes serious dissension in departments, at times an environment bordering on the hostile.
The students have far too much power and will respond strongly if they are questioned or told, No.
For being an alleged diverse and open minded school, anyone with conservative ideals may not necessarily feel very welcomed here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a long, hard look at individuals in key positions on campus. If their departments have experienced high turnover, seem lacking direction, etc...it may just not be the new employees issue, but those that remain.
Evolve. It is time to put the New College "idea" of the past behind and come into the modern era. You need to start using grades, have faculty teach more than two courses a semester, do away with the contract/advisor program, and rest the power back from the students...or New College will be defunct or absorbed by another school within 5-10 years max.
