I worked at New Mexico State University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is very family friendly environment and hours are very flexible. People are very helpful and friendly. It is laid back and relaxing environment to work.

    Cons

The pay was lower side with my experience. However, the town is not expensive to live, so it is manageable. There are not much postdocs comparing to other schools, so there is no postdoc association as I know of to support postdocs (career development workshop etc..).

  2.

Facilities & Services is a disaster to work for.

I worked at New Mexico State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits and time off. Small town and easy to get around. Good parking throughout campus and many eating venues.

    Cons

Stay away from Facilities, it has become a disaster to work at. Constant lying to the Head Administration about what really is happening at Facilities & Services. New management models a box program they learned at conferences. Administrator only wants white men in upper management. Hispanics and women are treated poorly. Within the last 2 years more than 80% of the managers and supervisors have left due to abuse and harassment which stemmed from the head of Facilities. Existing managers are stressed beyond need and projects now cost 25% more and take much longer to complete if they get started at all. Stay away from the unhealthiest working environment at NMSU.
