Current Employee - Communications Manager  in  New York, NY
Current Employee - Communications Manager in New York, NY

Pros

Hard working, dedicated folks who have spent most of their lives working for the City of New York or in private consulting.

Cons

Not enough room for upside/growth/raises due to budgetary and governmental constraints. Also, very bureaucratic. Managers are very lax and sometimes bad judges of character.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut the dead weight and hire younger, energetic people who are more technologically proficient and better suited for a lively work atmosphere.

    Pros

better stability , good benefits if you stay on for 20 years

    Cons

This place is a circus, senior management does not care about employees, consultants are running the place following no standard procedures , quality of work by these consultants is below par, managers turn a blind eye to the mistakes these consultants commit, employees are treated inferior, no scope of advancement in career , just an awful work environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop listening to consultants , they are just ripping off the city with their high consulting fees start giving importance to employees

    Pros

good place to have a job which hard to get laid off.

    Cons

if you want a career it is not a good place to work for. Almost you can say no advance chance if you didn't negotiate a higher position when you first started.

    Long working hour.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The worst part of the location is the management team, not respect to its employee at all.
