Pros

strong allotment of vacation time even for inexperienced staff work life balance oriented

opportunities are limited for non actuarial staff compensation is low tendency to be pigeon holed into roles

Advice to Management

80/20 rule is more like 90/10 in most departments. look to give opportunity to talented non actuaries

I worked at New York Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice benefits, includes cafeteria, gym, renovated space. Work/Life balance is good for certain people. Good training programs offered.

    Cons

Very conservative, non-progressive, upper management is unaware of low morale or chooses to ignore, upper management micromanages and are not confident in staffs decisions.

    Advice to Management

Let people do their jobs and foster a positive work environment. Embrace change and new technology. Get rid of dead wood!

    Pros

    None to say about them

    Cons

Partners and mp's will make you believe that you can earn 6 figures. I was a TAS agent for 2 years and no new agents came close. Alan and Darin both tried to get me to stay by promising me leads, ha, never got any until I threatened to leave! Also, they helped all agents become proactive at year-end to fatten their own wallets. Stay away - especially in westchester and pennsylvania

    Advice to Management

Hire real recruiters who tell the truth.
