I worked at New York Life as an intern for less than a year

Pros

As an intern you are fully integrated into the office and are treated like a normal new associate. You are given an opportunity to go through the normal training process. Great exposure to what life is like as an associate.

Cons

They expect long hours for an internship and this can be tough if you are a full time student. Cold calling can be very tough at first. Expect lots of rejection at first

Recommends
Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at New York Life full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits, accepting culture of work/life balance

    Cons

stagnant, slow moving 165 year culture; poor business acumen of executives, promotions based on personality, devoid of merit; failure to prepare for business opportunities in future

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire from outside; train less experienced employees; formulate strategy for 21st century insurance sales and purchase.
