I have been working at New York Life full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Not stuck to a 9 to 5, you can work your 40-50 hours however you like.
I am finally get paid what I am worth due to my efforts.
Ongoing training and support the 5 years I have been here.
I have made more money every single year and I am getting paid residual income on all my business over the last 5 years.
My manager has played an active role in my development every single year and I am now helping him develop newer advisors and getting compensated for that as well.

Cons

I hit a good size case and get a little lazy after that, which is my fault not the companies!
My office is an hour from my house so the 4 times a month I do drive to the office its a bit out of the way.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Conveniently located good cafeteria and nice lobby

    Cons

Downsizing and reorganizations were completed way too quickly. Major changes like this should be completed over years....and in a thoughtful way. Quick change-overnight destroys morale and motivation. Many of the people who were eliminated are being replaced by new people. No surprise and I CANNOT WAIT TO RETIRE AND GET AWAY!!.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

First round of cuts were needed. Lots and lots of dead wood were removed

Second round....most of it was good...Though one strong word of advise. You cannot change years and years of mismanagement overnight!

Also cut the corny basketball and corporate challenge adolescent behavior out...with the Chairman pretending like he truly cares about the average employee.. This "let's pretend we are all one big happy family" only works on young, inexperienced or naive employees. We are being treated as though we are consultants working out of India.

I have been working at New York Life full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People are for the most part respecting of each other, I would say this is a "nice" company (no yelling or screaming or backstabbing, etc.)

    Cons

There is definitely a good old boy network at play, definitely within Agency, and not a ton of women at the top.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change up management in Agency so they come into the 21st century
