Current Employee – been working at New York Public Library

Pros – NYPL is a great place to learn about how a large non-profit functions. If you are looking for a place with a lot of history and the clout of a established cultural organizations, it can be a great place to work.

Cons – Currently under an period of massive change of management and mission. Tough financial constraints can make for a lot of difficulties in getting things done. In general, the organization is slow moving. It seems to be in an internal battle fighting to figure out it's place in the larger in ecosystem of information services in a time where digital is rapidly shirking traditional media.

Advice to Senior Management – Focus on figuring out the top priorities. Try to do less things at the same time. Invest more in your employees.
