I have been working at New York & Company part-time for more than a year
Pros – *Great Discount (20%)
*Raises regularly
*Praised for hard work
*Flexibility in hours
*Easy to make friends with rest of employees
*Customers are great (minus the occasional crazy ones)
*SUPER Comfortable Dress Code
Cons – *Random Drama within workplace
*Wrong manager will RUIN your experience
*Pushing to sell the credit card (They will cut or remove your hours completely if you don't meet your goals)
Typical issues with any retail. But, you get what you put into it. Great for part time, if you're pursuing a career in this retail company, get a college degree!!
Advice to Senior Management – Relax on the credit sales in this economy. Cutting hours based on credit is ridiculous, don't punish employees who are fantastic at customer service but not getting 12 cards a day or some ridiculous number.
1-3 cards a day is a perfect number. Cater your credit sales to the location of the stores (stores where the clientele is less liable to be approved for credit shouldn't still have as high of goals as other stores with different clientele)
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
