I worked at New York & Company part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Try to hang on to good employees. Nice to get to know regular shoppers. Thankfully I had a good manager who worked around my school and second job schedules.

Cons

Terrible upper management. Most days are frustrating as you have to deal with every kind of customer and deal with endless piles of clothes. Not much opportunity for raises or to move up within the company. Really poor pay. Fast burnout rate.

I have been working at New York & Company part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You get trained in all aspects of the company, stock, receiving POS Systems, returns.

    Cons

Problems with pay, They worked me for the sale weekend and then got on call shifts and never got to work again. I wasted valuable time thinking I had a secure job when in fact I should have been looking for other jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Was hired as a part time associate and was promised at the very least 10 hours per week all I got was on call shifts and didn't even work. If you wanted to hire me as an on call associate then that should have been stated. Also you need to pay what is owed to the associate and log the hours correctly. 12.5 hours at $8.00 per hour does not equal $30 dollars even after tax. Just be honest about the type of position the employee was hired for and the amount of hours that employee will get.
