Lazy, incompetent employees easily ride on smart employees' coat-tails

I have been working at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital

Pros

- Medical benefits cover almost everything (but co-pays and premiums are $$$)
- 9-5 job for administration/back office support employees
- Stress free job
- #1 hospital in New York
- 4 weeks vacation (front loaded) for all salaried/exempt employees
- Management encourages everyone to use their vacation time since you can't carry over to the next year
- Good communication from Leadership about goings on at the Hospital

Cons

- Management doesn't address weak performers like they should. Instead, these employees just keep sliding by dragging everyone down with their mistakes.
- Can't work from home, ever.
- Way too much micromanaging. If I come to work on time, dress appropriately, do great work with no mistakes, why am I micromanaged? This goes back to treating everyone like the weakest link. Management is too focused on treating everyone exactly the same, when we are not the same. This is why strong performers will leave.
- Outdated technology (all our desktops have hard drives in them... that's how old these computers are)
- Must wait 2 full months from start date to be eligible for benefits
- Must be employed for 3 years before pension vests

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Treat people as individuals. Don't be afraid to reprimand weak performers. It will help everyone in the long run.
- Stop with the money wasted on useless gifts like the jackets, backpacks and fancy galas
- Stop sending us holidays cards, what a waste of money on postage for almost 20,000 employees
- Seniority shouldn't dictate salaries or promotions. Performance in the job should.
