Newell Rubbermaid – “Dont Do It! If you have a brain, soul or heart- bad place to work!”
Pros
some free products.. met some good ppl who have since quit or have gotten "laid off". No one worth anything sticks around.
Cons
Where to start! Cons: everything starting from Ketchum all the way down to the new college grads they trick to hire in. NWL is full of empty promises and back stabbers. I was able to work my way up for a bit, as long as I kept any opinions that differed from the Newell Cult Mind Set, ( if you have worked there or even interviewed ther you know EXACTLY what I mean!) until I started to question their under handed methodes and odd promotional tactics.
Honestly I hated the job from day one- but I kept at it and got promoted. I thought things would get better, but the more roles I assumed- the more shady situation unfolded in front of me.
When I started, I thought: these ppl cannot be this clueles- its a fortune 500? These managers have degrees, experience in their fields? No. Not at all. They are the worst management team ever- like I said the problems start at top and work their way down.
HR is also a JOKE. If you have issue- keep your mouth shut. You will get taken care of- not the problem- or trouble maker. They dont like ppl who stire the pot.
Advice to Senior Management
Get management in place with experience- Dont hire, or should I say promote ppl who lack experience and have sat around waiting for a position to open. Also, each division needs to recognize they are one company (hence Newell Rubbermaid, Inc.--Not Sharpie Inc or IRWIN Inc or Goody Inc.) learn to talk/work amongst yourself. Do be threaten by hiring ppl with brain- afraid it will make you look bad and God forbid help the company's growth! Get an HR team in place that doesnt sweep issues under the rug- HR is in place to help clear issues up and fix problem employees- not create cover ups.
