Pros

Probably the best training out there for a sales role in the CPG world. Direct access to senior executives across North America. Clearly laid out promotional plan from Account Coordinator to Account Associate, to Account Director, to Sr. Account Director to Group Sales Manager. Fantastic compensation and bonus packages.

Cons

Very little opportunity for advancement beyond Account Director level. Preference giving to News America Marketing employees for US transfer (NMC is the Canadian office of NAM). Asked to compromise integrity and lie to clients in an effort to increase revenue. Ex. late fees, gas tax etc. A lot of turnover. Very few employees who have been with company for more than a couple of years. Worst office politics I have ever encountered.

Advice to Management

Learn to value your employees for their accomplishments, not who they hang out with in the office.

    Pros

    - training & development - you get to manage major accounts and grow relationships with Cpgs - exposure to the grocery/drug retail business - stepping stone into the CPG world of career opportunities

    Cons

    - office politics - compromise business integrity for $$ - no flex hours, uptight environment - outdated operating systems to perform admin duties - Expected to work overtime on daily basis with no additional compensation. Frowned upon if you don't.

    Advice to Management

Set plans into place for a better work/life balance.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at News Marketing Canada part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

flexibility, managers are great they do the best they can

    Cons

Where to begin. changes roll out with seemingly no foresight, struggle to get tools needed for the job, low pay, seem disorganized in some ways, seems like they go through managers alot it's mentioned that they are looking for new area managers all the time.

    Advice to Management

take the time to look at all angles of a project, pay employees a better wage...minimum wage is .not the rate you really pay people you want to keep.
