I have been working at Nexen as a contractor (more than a year)

Pros

Great people to deal with, very selective in getting the best people into the organization and that makes you deal with the best people in the industry. No micro-management and management is supportive.

Cons

I couldn't find any so far!

I have been working at Nexen full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits, decent base pay
    Good career advancement opportunities
Great at giving back to the community, and offers employees days off to volunteer

    Cons

Very top-heavy and far too high of G&A for the production levels
Unmotivated employee base now (that 5 years ago was much more satisfied)
More concerned with appeasing the masses than in retaining and rewarding the top performers
    Fairly uptight environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too top-heavy -- too many VPs for size of company

    Neutral Outlook
    Approves of CEO
  2. Good student experience
