Work for NextGen if you want to have no file

Horsham, PA

Former Employee – worked at NextGen

ProsTheir products are well known in the Medical Records industry. Having experience with thier products might open some doors at Hospitals and medical billings companies, and etc that use their software.

ConsNo Work/Life Balance what so ever. Company's official hours are 8:30 to 5:30 with 1 hour lunch break. Even though it is 40 hours work week, you just MUST spend 9 hours at the office every day, even if you take 15 or 30 min lunch or skip lunch all together. Most managers vigorously monitored what time their subordinates came in and left, and they would make a big deal if someone was a few minutes late or had to leave earlier. If you came in late or left earlier for whatever reasons, you'd be required to "make up" those hours by staying late. And it didn’t matter if you could get your work done in 2 hours; they literally were obsessed with having warm bodies at the office for 9 hours every day.
The deadlines were unrealistic and often artificial. Management would create a sense of urgency about having certain features implemented by some ridiculous date, but later we would find out that clients didn't care if those features were delivered 3 month later or at all. As the result it didn't contribute to the bottom line, but only increased employees’ stress levels and dissatisfaction with the job. From what I've seen many people had to work long hours not because it was truly necessary, but because projects were badly managed, and management not caring about people having lives outside work. As the result the morale was low and high turnover rate.
Avoid NextGen if you can. Go for it if you have no life or you are a chronic workaholic.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize that people have lives and families besides work. Find the ways to increase efficiency instead of throwing bodies at the problem.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
