Pros

Pay/benfits seems to be on par with the industry average. Great place to work for right out of college, especially if you are working in the microbiology/analytical lab. Good place to learn variety of skills related to the field.

Cons

Employees have low morale, as a result they do not often stay very long (2 years for most people). Employees get very little constructive feedback from supervisors/mangers. Labs for the most part are very much disorganized, even sometimes chaotic. The managers/supervisors for the most part seem to be out of touch with the employees working under them. You get the feeling that they are just looking out for themselves not for the company as a whole.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employee and hire competent people for managerial positions.

    Pros

Decent pay/benefits, some good associates and experiences. Cost of living in the area is "below average" so you get a lot for your money in that area of the state. Mooresville is developing into a decent community and they seem to have a good sense of direction.

    Cons

Terrible management direction, mostly out for themselves and could care less about the company or its associates. Sr. Execs are underqualified and do not make very good decisions. Morale is in the toilet more times than not and they can't keep a staff working there for >2 years. Contractors are the "wave of the future" and they have this system perfected. More time spent hiring and firing contractors/staff and less time developing personnel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people that are not your friends/family and follow through with promises/decisions.

    Pros

Fast work pace, always something new. Company is focused on building top-line growth, and is not governed by whims of investors or stock analysts.

    Cons

Poor interdepartmental communication. Too much emphasis on placing/avoiding blame. Sales makes commitments that are wholly unreasonable, and R&D and manufacturing get left holding the bag.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strategic discipline. NP typically spends most of its time chasing its tail to satisfy day-to-day sales requests, which may or may not actually contribute to long-term growth-nobody really knows.
