Pros

Great bunch of guys to work with.
Challenging work which frequently requires you to think off the cuff.
Information isn't spoon fed to you so you get good troubleshooting experience.
Good benefits (although that is changing with a struggling economy)

Cons

Work environment can be a little unprofessional at time.
Pay isn't what it used to be.
Usually small raises.
No car allowance.
There is a lot of information hoarding going on by some trying to be heros which can make it tough to do you job sometimes.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more feedback options from service personnel. Needs to be more transparency between the field, Belmont, and Japan. It's easy to feel disconnected from the company and hence the company goals when you just work at a customer site day in and day out. I think FSEs would take more ownership if they felt like they were truly a part of the company and made a difference.

    Pros

Awesome benefits. Certain people are great, opportunities to be pushed and thus grow are pretty frequent.

    Cons

WEAK leadership. Zero communication about anything. Fighting fires is the only way the company knows how to operate. Lack of investment in the people and technology used by people in their jobs. This is a "no can do" type of company vs. a "can do". Seriously behind the times in being innovative and using technology to make processes better. Some people work very hard while others coast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become managers who actually lead instead of getting too involved in the details.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, long-term job security.

    Cons

At some satellite operations that are located near semiconductor fabs, there can be little to no oversight by upper management. As a result of this there are some mediocre long-term employees, and some very unprofessional long-term employees. These people's behaviors go unnoticed in a large bureaucracy and they are very unproductive and disruptive. Also, there is a lack of organization and communication. There is poor communications with related Japanese operations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire and reward positive, team oriented people who treat fellow employees with respect and also behave in a professional manner. Have better, more effective communications with employees and related companies. Upper Management should make a concerted effort to weed out unprofessional and inadequate employees, as they are very costly and unproductive and are lawsuits waiting to happen. In this down economy, there would be no problem finding people who can do the job much better.
