I have been working at Nokia Networks full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

NSN is making a come-back after many repetitive bad quarters. It's gaining back market share and pushing hard against Huawei in a fight for the second position.

Cons

Complete absence of career path. Jobs are assigned based on connections. Perseverance and hard work will almost never pay off. The waves of headcount reduction seem to target the least protected people (and often the most hard working and honest). Employees are expected to work late on a regular basis.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the entire corrupt and utterly useless HR, and get some talented people on board. This company needs to set up real career paths for its employees. HR being "sharks" is very 1990's.

I have been working at Nokia Networks full-time

    Pros

    Better than average 401K match
    Bonuses
Getting things turned around - rising while other competitors are falling

    Cons

Telecomm is not a high margin business
Still in cost cutting mode for survival
Integration of various companies still occurring and going far to slowly (this killed Actatel-Lucent)
Employee Rating/Ranking system is not functional

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attrition is high for a reason, yet it's not being addressed. Survival is more than a financial matter.

I worked at Nokia Networks full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a great global organization with opportunities world wide.
A wide set of large scale products and projects to work on and willing to take on new ways of doing things (like Agile Software Development.)

    Cons

Disparate goals in which the teams act as if in silos, making it difficult to provide rapid results for customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on creating their own identity, rather than a mix of joint ventured companies. Determine who they want to be and go after it.
