Pros

Once a real power house but the world has changed and it has been left in the dust.

Cons

OK tech is cyclical but you do expect a company that once had respect as a core value would treat people accordingly. No longer. Although I left a long time ago it saddens me to hear all the stories of HR breaking agreements with employees and suggesting a legal avenue to resolve them, of people who relocated thousands of miles for the company being told to leave at very short notice (less than a month) with impacts on family and other examples of borderline behavior. Why would you join a company that treats people like this?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have been with the company more than 5 years in senior management then you should be ashamed of yourselves

I have been working at Nokia full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Exciting industry with lots of challenges. Nokia has developed and acquired some of the best technology in the world. It's a real pleasure to work for a Finnish company.

    Cons

Terrible company culture due to egos, politics and stress. Too many managers, not enough creativity. Need more of a commitment to sustainability and to manufacture products more responsibly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be as you wish to seem.

Used to be great, but with frequent reorgs, less qualified people get best roles based on who you know, not what you do.

I worked at Nokia full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There still are some great people and managers there, but depends on which group your in. Vacation time is the only thing that still is great, if only you weren't too busy to actually use it!

    Cons

Too frequent reorganizations, too late in critical decisions, too far behind competition, inability to trust global leaders. Expect more downsizing so the old Nokia beast can be more quick to respond, as the giant takes forever to learn from past mistakes. Don't know how Nokia will continue to attrack new talent, there is a significant amount of risk. There are lots of dissatisfied employees based on "nomination" process over the more traditional qualification review to place people in new roles after each reorganization, so it really is important who you know. If you are Finnish or have worked in headquarters, you already are ahead of the rest no matter how qualified you are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good luck! You are going to need it will all the past decision. Too bad Microsoft doesn't seem to be the kind of partner you were expecting!
