Pros
Very virtual work environment, employees can work from home as needed, decent suite of tools available to to support work at home.
Cons
Work life balance is defined as working all the time and keeping your family last on your list. When there are cuts, all sites outside of Finland take deeper cuts than in Finland. Despite claims by Nokia that there is a secondary world headquarters in the U.S., the power base remains in Finland.
Advice to Senior Management
The lack of direction is frustrating. Even worse, though, is the refusal to make decisions and commit resources to too many projects, which overtaxes employees and few things are done well. We've forgotten our purpose, which is make life easier for the consumers of our products. Instead of constantly expecting them to adapt to our systems.
By refusing to identify when the current round of cuts will end, everyone is afraid to take risks. If you don't take care of your people now, you won't have them when the economy turns.
