Current Employee - Operation Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA

I have been working at Nokia full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

If you are looking for a place to hang out the economy downturn. This is a place you can hide for a while.

Cons

Re-org, re-org and re-org. I have 6 managers within 2 years due to re-org. It was turned from bad to worse after I was regroup to a incapable group with full of jokers. Management only likes yes man even blind know what was wrong in the team.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

First line managers should be eliminated all together. They did not manage people nor project. All they do is just relay their managers request to people who report to them at the very last minute.

Then these managers blame their people for failing the project.

    I worked at Nokia full-time

    Pros

Posters all over the Rancho Benardo building about Empathy for one another and doing the right thing, walking to a co-worker to see them in person rather than emailing them - how it can be beneficial. . .

    Cons

Nokia seemed pre occupied with clawing their way back, hoping the Microsoft partnership will be their ticket back to a lead role in the ever-changing telecom market place. Well it doesn't mean to not pay attention still to the humans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Practice what you preach!
Human Resources and especially Recruiting with your fancy name of Talent Acquisition - get your act together. I imagine if the head of HR wasn't in the Bay area, it would be easier.
