Wonderful place to work, so long as you are safe from the new pointy-haired managers

    Pros

With few exceptions coworkers are incredibly great people to work with; fun, smart, kind, helpful. A very relaxed atmosphere where you can be a real person AND do your job. Everyone has a chance to contribute.

    Cons

Newer management has no depth. They are incapable of accurately judging employee skill and contribution, rewarding those who play politics but don't actually do work, while punishing those who do good work but don't play politics. Claims of career advancement not backed up; no promotion opportunities, no career advancement plans or otherwise, just more work. QA is incredibly understaffed and overworked, with no real plan of attracting and keeping good talent.

    Advice to Management

The new vision for the company itself is great, but new technical management is driving talent away while trying to hire buzzword generating MBAs rather than good talent.

  2. Nominum is an intelligent, ethical company with solid products and a healthy culture.

    Pros

Base products are rock-solid. Newer endeavors show promise. Engineering culture is first-rate: collaborative, respectful, and flexible, with shared goals and minimal bureaucracy.

    Cons

Mistakes made by former CEO caused some disappointing setbacks a couple of years ago, but the company has made great strides since then and is well on the road to recovery.
